Shasta County 7th Cycle RHNA Final Determination and Allocation Letter

This letter from the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) gives Shasta County its final plan for housing needs and how to meet them. This is needed by state law. HCD and Shasta County staff worked together from February to April 2026 to figure out the housing needs. HCD talked with local governments about the draft plan. The final plan is for 7,594 total housing units among six income groups from December 31, 2027 to April 15, 2036. Local governments must update their housing plans to include their share of new housing needs. HCD encourages using available affordable housing and community development resources. Shasta County local governments must update their housing plans by April 15, 2028 to include their share of new housing needs for each income group.
