5 Conflict of Interest Policy

The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency (SRTA) is updating its Conflict of Interest policy to follow a new state law, Senate Bill 852, which starts on January 1, 2026. This law says certain officials must file a Form 700 with the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) instead of the local agency. SRTA's board members, executive director, and chief fiscal officer must now file this form with the FPPC every year. The policy changes aim to follow state rules. Staff and legal experts reviewed the policy and suggested more edits for clarity and consistency. The board can ask for more information or delay the decision, but this might make it hard to meet the Shasta County Clerk's reporting deadline. SRTA will work with the FPPC and the Shasta County Clerk to put the changes in place once approved. The Fiscal & Policy Committee looked at the proposal on September 21, 2026.
